Description

These Pizza Stuffed Waffle Snacks are a fun and easy twist on traditional pizza, combining crispy waffle iron-cooked dough pockets filled with gooey mozzarella, pepperoni, and flavorful pizza sauce. Perfect as a kid-friendly snack or appetizer, they’re quick to make and customizable with your favorite pizza toppings.

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll dough

Filling

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup mini pepperoni slices or chopped pepperoni
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Other

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Extra pizza sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare waffle iron: Preheat your waffle iron and lightly coat it with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking and achieve a crisp crust.
  2. Prepare dough pieces: Roll out the refrigerated pizza or crescent roll dough on a clean surface, then cut it into rectangles roughly the size of the waffle iron sections for easy stuffing.
  3. Add fillings: On half of the dough rectangles, spread a spoonful of pizza sauce, sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese, add mini pepperoni slices, and finish with a pinch of Italian seasoning, making sure to leave a small border around the edges for sealing.
  4. Seal the snacks: Place another dough rectangle on top of each filled piece and carefully pinch the edges together to fully seal the filling inside.
  5. Cook in waffle iron: Place the stuffed dough packets into the preheated waffle iron and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until they turn golden brown and crisp on the outside.
  6. Cool and serve: Carefully remove the cooked snacks from the waffle iron and let them cool slightly before serving, optionally with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Customize your snacks by adding your favorite pizza toppings like mushrooms, olives, or cooked sausage.
  • These snacks are best enjoyed warm for optimal taste and texture.
  • You can freeze leftover snacks and reheat them in a toaster oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
