Description
These delicious Pizza Rollups are easy-to-make baked appetizers featuring a crispy golden exterior filled with melted mozzarella, pepperoni, and classic Italian seasonings. Perfect for parties or a fun snack, they are served warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
Ingredients
Pizza Rollups
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce, plus more for dipping
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Roll Out Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a large rectangle, providing an even base for the toppings.
- Spread Sauce: Evenly spread 1/2 cup of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent overflow during baking.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, followed by the mini pepperoni slices. Then sprinkle the Italian seasoning and garlic powder evenly over the toppings for added flavor.
- Roll Dough: Starting from the long side of the rectangle, tightly roll the dough into a log, encasing the toppings inside and creating a spiral effect.
- Slice Rollups: Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch thick slices, creating individual rollups. Arrange them cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Add Finishing Touches: Lightly brush the tops of the rollups with olive oil and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top to promote browning and enhance taste.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the rollups are golden brown and the cheese inside is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let the rollups cool slightly. Serve warm with additional pizza sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Customize with cooked sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives for varied flavors.
- Allow rollups to cool slightly before serving, as the filling will be hot immediately out of the oven.
