Description

This easy and delicious Pizza Casserole combines the flavors of classic pizza in a comforting baked dish. Featuring a soft Bisquick crust layered with savory pizza sauce, pepperoni, and melted mozzarella cheese, it’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or casual gathering.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 â…“ cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning

Layers

  • 1 (14-15 ounce) jar pizza sauce
  • 6 ounces sliced pepperoni
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the Dough: In a medium bowl, combine Bisquick baking mix, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Add water and stir until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add more Bisquick; if too dry, add a bit more water until the consistency is soft but manageable.
  3. Assemble Layers: Divide the dough in half. Drop spoonfuls of half the dough evenly onto the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Drizzle half of the pizza sauce over the dough. Layer half of the sliced pepperoni and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Then repeat the layers with the remaining dough, pizza sauce, pepperoni, and cheese.
  4. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.
  5. Serve: Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Cut into squares and serve warm for a comforting, crowd-pleasing meal.

Notes

  • If you prefer a crispier crust, you can slightly increase the baking time but watch carefully to prevent burning.
  • Feel free to customize toppings with vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for added flavor and texture.
  • This casserole can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if chilled.
  • Use low-moisture mozzarella for less watery casserole.
