Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ lb fresh shaved steak (beef or chicken)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 12 slices provolone cheese, thinly sliced
Glaze Ingredients
- ¼ cup butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced yellow onions and cook until they soften. Then add the green bell peppers and minced garlic, cooking until they are soft and fragrant. Remove the vegetables from the pan and set aside.
- Cook Steak: In the same skillet, add the shaved steak and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until the meat is browned. Season with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, kosher salt, and freshly cracked black pepper to taste. Once cooked, remove from the pan and set aside.
- Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, dried thyme, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to create a flavorful glaze.
- Assemble Sliders: Arrange the bottom halves of the Hawaiian rolls evenly in the greased baking dish. Layer half of the provolone cheese slices, followed by half of the sautéed vegetables, then all the cooked steak. Add the remaining provolone cheese on top of the steak, followed by the rest of the sautéed vegetables. Place the top halves of the rolls over the stacked ingredients and brush the tops generously with the prepared glaze.
- Bake: Place the assembled sliders in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted and is bubbly.
- Serve: Remove the baking dish from the oven, slice the sliders into individual portions, and serve immediately while warm and delicious.
Notes
- Use fresh shaved steak for the best texture; ribeye or sirloin work well.
- Substitute chicken shaved steak if preferred for a lighter option.
- Leftover sliders can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated in the oven or microwave.
- To add extra flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or hot peppers.
- For a spicier glaze, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the butter mixture.
