- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, mix melted butter and peanut butter until smooth. Stir in brown sugar until well combined, then add the egg and vanilla extract.
- Add dry ingredients: Mix in baking soda and salt, then fold in the flour just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Bake: Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is just set.
- Cool and cut: Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
Notes
- For a softer texture, don’t overbake.
- Add chopped nuts or swirl in extra peanut butter on top before baking if desired.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
