Description

This Panda Express Chow Mein Recipe delivers takeout-style stir-fried noodles with caramelized onions, crisp cabbage, and celery tossed in a savory soy-based sauce.


Ingredients

  • 14 oz chow mein noodles (or yakisoba noodles or spaghetti)
  • 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced diagonally
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper


Instructions

  1. Slice onion and celery, shred cabbage, mince garlic, and measure out all sauces before cooking.
  2. Cook noodles according to package instructions, drain, and rinse under cold water. Toss lightly with oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Heat oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add onion, celery, and garlic, stir-fry for 2 minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Add shredded cabbage and cook for another minute, stirring constantly to retain some crispness.
  5. Add cooked noodles along with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Toss to combine, letting noodles caramelize slightly.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Remove from heat and serve hot.
