Description

Indulge in a restaurant-quality meal at home with this easy and delicious pan-seared steak in butter sauce recipe. Perfectly cooked ribeye steaks bathed in a flavorful buttery sauce make for a satisfying and elegant main course.

Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 2 boneless ribeye steaks (about 1-inch thick)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Butter Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth (or red wine for extra flavor)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (optional, for depth of flavor)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steaks: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the Steaks: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steaks for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  3. Make the Butter Sauce: Add butter, smashed garlic, and herbs to the pan. Baste the steaks with the butter mixture as they cook.
  4. Rest and Slice: Remove steaks from the pan and let them rest before slicing.
  5. Prepare the Sauce: Deglaze the pan with broth (or wine) and balsamic vinegar. Simmer until slightly reduced.
  6. Serve: Drizzle the butter sauce over the sliced steak, garnish with parsley, and serve with desired sides.

Notes

  • For a creamy sauce, add heavy cream to the butter sauce.
  • Fresh herbs provide the best flavor, but dried herbs can be substituted.
  • Pair this dish with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a simple salad.
