Description

This classic guacamole recipe combines ripe avocados with fresh lime juice, onion, tomato, jalapeño, and cilantro for a flavorful, creamy dip that’s perfect for any occasion. It’s quick to prepare, naturally gluten-free, and can be easily customized to your taste preferences.

Ingredients

Avocado Base

  • 2 large avocados (ripe)
  • 1-2 limes (juiced)

Mix-Ins

  • ½ small white onion or red onion, finely diced
  • 1 Roma tomato, seeded and diced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • ¾ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, peel off the skin, and remove the pits. Place the avocado flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Mash and Flavor: Squeeze the juice from one lime over the avocados and use a fork to gently mash them, leaving some chunks for texture.
  3. Add Mix-Ins: Stir in the finely diced onion, seeded and diced tomato, minced jalapeño if using, and chopped cilantro. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavors.
  4. Season and Adjust: Taste the guacamole and season with salt, black pepper, and additional lime juice as needed to suit your preference.
  5. Serve: Serve the guacamole immediately with tortilla chips, as a topping, or a side dip for your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • To keep guacamole from browning, cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface or add an extra squeeze of lime juice.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapeño to control the heat level or omit entirely if you prefer a milder dip.
  • For a chunkier texture, mash the avocado less thoroughly.
  • This recipe can be doubled easily for larger gatherings.
