Description

Oreo Truffles are a rich and indulgent no-bake dessert made by combining crushed Oreo cookies with creamy softened cream cheese, then coated in smooth melted chocolate. These bite-sized treats are simple to prepare and perfect for parties, gifts, or satisfying a sweet craving with minimal effort.

Ingredients

For the Truffles:

  • 1 package (15.35 oz) Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (full-fat recommended)

For the Coating:

  • 16 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (or white chocolate as an alternative)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother melting)

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Crushed Oreos, for sprinkling on top
  • Drizzle of melted chocolate, for decoration

Instructions

  1. Crush Cookies: Use a food processor to pulse the entire package of Oreo cookies until they become fine crumbs. If you don’t have a food processor, place the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them using a rolling pin until finely ground.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, blend the crushed Oreos with 8 oz of softened cream cheese until fully combined and a dough-like consistency forms. Use a spatula or clean hands to mix evenly.
  3. Shape into Balls: Scoop approximately 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball with your hands. Arrange the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Continue until all mixture is used.
  4. Chill: Refrigerate the baking sheet with truffle balls for about 30 minutes so they can firm up and hold their shape for dipping.
  5. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  6. Dip Truffles: Remove the chilled truffles from the fridge. Using a fork or dipping tool, submerge each truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off before placing it back on the parchment-lined sheet.
  7. Place on Baking Sheet: Arrange the chocolate-coated truffles back on the lined baking sheet orderly to prepare for garnish and setting.
  8. Add Toppings: While the chocolate coating is still wet, sprinkle crushed Oreos on top or drizzle with additional melted chocolate to decorate as desired.
  9. Chill Again: Return the decorated truffles to the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes so the chocolate hardens and sets completely.
  10. Serve: Once set, serve the Oreo truffles chilled for a delicious and decadent treat that’s ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Use full-fat cream cheese for best texture and flavor.
  • If you prefer a different coating, white chocolate or milk chocolate chips can be substituted.
  • Coconut oil is optional but helps achieve a smoother and shinier chocolate coating.
  • Store leftover truffles in an airtight container refrigerated and consume within 5 days.
  • Ensure truffles are completely chilled before dipping to prevent melting and maintain shape.
