Description

This Orange Fig Jam recipe combines the bright citrus flavors of orange with the sweet elegance of dried figs, creating a versatile and delicious spread that is perfect for pairing with a variety of dishes.

Ingredients

Dried Fig Mixture:

  • 2 cups dried figs, stems removed and chopped
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional:

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped figs, orange juice, orange zest, sugar, lemon juice, and salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Reduce heat to low and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the figs are soft and the mixture has thickened slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Use an immersion blender (or transfer to a food processor or blender) to blend the jam to your desired texture—smooth or slightly chunky.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract if using. Let cool completely, then transfer to clean jars. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • This jam pairs beautifully with cheese boards, toast, yogurt, or roasted meats.
  • For longer storage, process in a water bath canner for 10 minutes.
  • Add a cinnamon stick while simmering for a warm spice note.
