Description

Orange Dreamsicle Salad is a nostalgic, creamy dessert salad that combines the bright citrus flavor of orange Jell-O with the smoothness of vanilla pudding and the light fluffiness of Cool Whip. Enhanced with mandarin oranges and mini marshmallows, this refreshing and easy-to-make salad is perfect for potlucks, family gatherings, or anytime you crave a sweet citrus treat.

Ingredients

Jell-O Mixture

  • 1 box orange Jell-O
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Pudding Mixture

  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding mix

Salad Add-ins

  • 1 (8 oz) container Cool Whip
  • 1 (14 oz) can mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Prepare Jell-O: In a large bowl, combine the orange Jell-O powder with 1 cup of boiling water. Stir vigorously until the Jell-O is completely dissolved.
  2. Add Cold Water and Chill: Pour in 1/2 cup of cold water, stir to combine, and then refrigerate the mixture for 15 minutes to start setting.
  3. Incorporate Pudding Mix: Gradually whisk in the instant vanilla pudding mix until the mixture is smooth. Return it to the refrigerator and chill for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the mixture thickens slightly.
  4. Fold in Remaining Ingredients: Gently fold in the Cool Whip, drained mandarin oranges, and mini marshmallows until evenly combined and light.
  5. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the salad for at least an additional hour before serving to allow flavors to meld and texture to firm up.

Notes

  • Use full-fat Cool Whip for best texture and flavor.
  • Drain mandarin oranges thoroughly to avoid excess liquid in the salad.
  • This salad can be made a day ahead to enhance flavor melding.
  • For variation, try adding chopped nuts for crunch.
