Description

Indulge in the nostalgic flavors of a classic Orange Creamsicle with this delightful ice cream cake. A crunchy vanilla wafer crust is layered with vibrant orange sherbet, creamy vanilla ice cream, and topped with fluffy whipped cream. Perfect for summer gatherings or special occasions.

Ingredients

Crust:

  • 1 box (14 oz) vanilla wafer cookies, crushed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Layers:

  • 1½ quarts orange sherbet, softened
  • 1½ quarts vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping
  • 1 tsp orange zest (optional for garnish)
  • Orange slices or sprinkles, for decoration

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: In a medium bowl, mix the crushed vanilla wafers and melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to form a crust. Freeze for 15 minutes to set.
  2. Add the Sherbet: Spread the softened orange sherbet evenly over the crust and return to the freezer for 30 minutes.
  3. Layer the Ice Cream: Spread the softened vanilla ice cream over the sherbet layer and freeze for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
  4. Finish with Topping: Once set, spread the whipped topping over the ice cream layer. Garnish with orange zest, slices, or sprinkles if desired. Freeze for an additional 2 hours before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Let the cake sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before slicing for easier serving.
  • For a citrusy twist, add a few drops of orange extract to the whipped topping.
