Description

One Pot Pizza Pasta is a comforting, cheesy fusion of pizza flavors and hearty pasta cooked all in one skillet—perfect for busy weeknights with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper (red or green), diced
  • 68 slices pepperoni (or sausage, sliced)
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 3 cups water or broth (enough to barely cover pasta)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan
  • Fresh basil, torn, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté garlic, onion, and bell pepper until tender (about 4–5 minutes).
  2. Add pepperoni and cook for another 1–2 minutes to release its flavor.
  3. Stir in pasta, marinara, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and enough water or broth to barely cover the pasta. Mix well.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 13–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is al dente and sauce is thick.
  5. Remove from heat. Sprinkle mozzarella over the top, cover briefly (2–3 minutes) to melt cheese.
  6. Finish with Parmesan and fresh basil if using. Serve straight from the skillet!

Notes

  • Vegetarian option: skip pepperoni or swap with vegetable-based pepperoni or sautéed mushrooms.
  • Alternate pasta shapes like rotini or shells work well; adjust water and cooking time as needed.
  • You can use pizza sauce instead of marinara; add a splash of water if it’s too thick.
  • Add heat by stirring in red pepper flakes or chili powder to taste.
