Description

A comforting and delicious one-pan creamy garlic butter chicken dish served with tender egg noodles. This easy-to-make recipe combines sautéed chicken with a rich garlic butter sauce, creamy chicken broth, and Parmesan for a satisfying meal ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce and Noodles

  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz wide egg noodles (uncooked)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 1 tablespoon fresh parsley)

Optional Garnish

  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Extra Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry, then season them evenly with salt and pepper to enhance the flavor before cooking.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 4 to 5 minutes. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  3. Sauté Garlic in Butter: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 to 60 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Add Liquids: Stir in chicken broth and heavy cream, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer to start building the creamy sauce.
  5. Cook Noodles: Add the uncooked egg noodles directly to the pan, pressing them down into the liquid. Cover the skillet and let the noodles simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and have absorbed part of the sauce.
  6. Combine and Finish: Return the browned chicken to the pan. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and dried or fresh parsley. Mix everything thoroughly until the sauce is creamy and all ingredients are well combined.
  7. Let it Rest and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and let the dish sit for 2 to 3 minutes to thicken the sauce. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and extra Parmesan if desired. Serve warm and enjoy your creamy garlic butter chicken with egg noodles.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for a juicier, more flavorful dish or chicken breasts for leaner meat.
  • Be sure to stir the noodles occasionally while simmering to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or milk, but the sauce will be less rich.
  • Fresh parsley adds a nice herbal brightness if you have it on hand.
