Ingredients

Cookie Dough:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice

Mix-Ins:

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped mixed candied fruit
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts


Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Eggs and Juice: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the orange juice.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the candied fruit, dates, and nuts.
  6. Bake: Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden.
