Description

These Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bars are a delightful treat that combines the wholesome goodness of oats with the rich sweetness of chocolate chips, all baked into a chewy, irresistible bar. Perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth or sharing with friends and family.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in oats and chocolate chips: Stir in the oats and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Bake: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  7. Cool and cut: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • You can substitute half of the chocolate chips with chopped nuts or dried fruit for added texture and flavor.
  • For chewier bars, slightly underbake and allow them to set as they cool.
