Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Cream butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in oats and chocolate chips: Stir in the oats and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Bake: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
- Cool and cut: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
- You can substitute half of the chocolate chips with chopped nuts or dried fruit for added texture and flavor.
- For chewier bars, slightly underbake and allow them to set as they cool.
