Description

A warm and comforting Oatmeal Apple Breakfast Bake that’s perfect for a nutritious start to your day. This hearty dish combines rolled oats, fresh apples, warming spices, and a touch of maple syrup, all baked to golden perfection. Ideal for meal prep or a cozy weekend brunch, it’s both delicious and wholesome.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of choice)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (or honey for non-vegan option)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or almonds (optional for crunch)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional for added fiber and omega-3s)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×9-inch baking dish by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, salt, and if using, the chia seeds and chopped nuts. Stir well to evenly distribute all ingredients.
  3. Add apples and sweetener: Incorporate the chopped apples into the oat mixture, then stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract, ensuring the mixture is combined thoroughly.
  4. Add the milk: Pour the unsweetened almond milk over the oat and apple mixture. Stir everything together until all dry ingredients are moistened and evenly mixed.
  5. Transfer to baking dish: Pour the combined mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly for uniform baking.
  6. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown and most of the liquid has been absorbed by the oats.
  7. Cool and serve: Remove the bake from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Slice into portions and serve warm for a comforting breakfast.

Notes

  • You can substitute almond milk with any preferred milk such as dairy, soy, or oat milk.
  • Use honey instead of maple syrup if you prefer a non-vegan version.
  • Adding chia seeds and nuts provides extra fiber, omega-3 fats, and crunch, but they can be left out if desired.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days; reheat before serving.
  • This bake can be made ahead and baked fresh in the morning for convenience.
