Description
Nashville Hot Deviled Eggs offer a fiery twist on the classic appetizer, combining creamy egg yolk filling with bold spices like cayenne pepper and smoked paprika. Perfect for game days or spicy brunch spreads, these deviled eggs bring a Southern kick with every bite.
Ingredients
Eggs and Filling
- 6 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon pickle juice (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Spices and Garnish
- 1/2 tablespoon Nashville hot seasoning (or a mix of cayenne, paprika, garlic powder, and brown sugar)
- Chopped pickles or chives for garnish (optional)
- Crushed crispy fried onions or breadcrumbs (optional for crunch)
Instructions
- Boil the Eggs: Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 10–12 minutes to ensure they are hard-boiled. Drain and transfer eggs to an ice bath to cool completely, which makes peeling easier.
- Prepare the Filling: Peel the eggs and slice each in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a bowl. Mash the yolks with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, pickle juice if using, and season with salt and pepper until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Fill the Egg Whites: Spoon or pipe the spicy yolk filling back into the empty egg white halves evenly, filling each cavity completely.
- Season and Garnish: Sprinkle the filled eggs with Nashville hot seasoning to add the signature spicy flavor. Garnish with chopped pickles or chives and, if desired, crushed crispy fried onions or breadcrumbs to add texture and crunch.
- Serve: Serve the Nashville Hot Deviled Eggs chilled or at room temperature for the best taste and texture experience.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level to your preference by increasing or reducing the amount of cayenne pepper and hot sauce used in the filling.
- These deviled eggs are ideal for game day snacks or as part of a spicy brunch spread.
- Adding crispy fried onions or breadcrumbs provides a delightful crunch that balances the creamy filling.
