Description

Indulge in the moist and delightful flavors of this homemade Applesauce Bread. Perfectly spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, this easy-to-make bread is a comforting treat for breakfast or as a snack.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened applesauce
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional:

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix applesauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Stir wet ingredients into dry until just combined. Fold in nuts if desired.
  5. Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Enhance with ½ cup raisins or dried cranberries.
  • Substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a heartier bread.
  • Freezes well—wrap tightly and store for up to 3 months.
