Ingredients

Brownie Batter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and chopped chocolate over low heat until smooth.
  3. Combine ingredients: Remove from heat, whisk in espresso powder and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Add cocoa powder, flour, and salt; mix until combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  4. Bake: Pour batter into the pan, smooth the top, and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  5. Cool and cut: Cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a stronger coffee flavor, increase the espresso powder to 1 1/2 tablespoons.
