Description

These Mint Chocolate Chip Snowball Cookies are a delightful twist on classic snowball cookies, with a hint of mint and mini chocolate chips for added flavor. Perfect for holiday gatherings or festive treats!

Ingredients

For the Cookies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 12 drops green food coloring (optional)

For Rolling:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Extracts and Coloring: Mix in peppermint and vanilla extracts, and add green food coloring if desired.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until combined. Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
  5. Form Dough Balls: Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls. Place on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden. Cool for 5 minutes.
  7. Roll in Sugar: Roll the warm cookies in powdered sugar. Cool completely, then roll in powdered sugar again for a snowy finish.

Notes

  • These cookies freeze well and are perfect for holiday gifting.
  • If you prefer a stronger mint flavor, add an extra 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract.
