Description

These Meat Lovers Pizza Tacos combine the hearty flavors of a classic meat lover’s pizza with the convenience and fun of a taco. Ground beef, Italian sausage, and pepperoni are cooked and seasoned, then layered on flour tortillas with pizza sauce, olives, and a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. Baked to bubbly perfection, these tacos offer a unique twist that’s perfect for a delicious and satisfying meal any day of the week.

Ingredients

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Pizza Toppings

  • 1/2 lb pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce

Base

  • 8 small flour tortillas

Instructions

  1. Cook the meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully browned. Drain any excess fat. Add the dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and set aside.
  2. Prepare the tortillas: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on each tortilla. Evenly distribute the cooked meat mixture over the tortillas. Top each with pepperoni slices, black olives, shredded mozzarella, and cheddar cheese.
  3. Bake the tacos: Place the prepared tortillas on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the tortillas are crispy.
  4. Serve: Remove the tacos from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with chopped basil, grated Parmesan, and red pepper flakes if desired. Cut each pizza taco into wedges and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute flour tortillas with corn tortillas if you prefer a gluten-free option, but the texture may vary.
  • Feel free to add extra veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat mixture for added flavor and nutrition.
  • Use low-fat cheese or reduce cheese quantity for a lighter version.
  • Leftover meat mixture can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and used for other dishes.
  • For a spicier kick, add crushed red pepper or hot sauce to the meat mixture before baking.
