Description

A delicious copycat of McDonald’s Philly Cheese Stack Loaded Fries featuring crispy baked fries topped with sautéed onions, bell peppers, seasoned beef, and a melty blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheese, finished with an optional cheese sauce drizzle for an indulgent party appetizer or fun dinner idea.

Ingredients

Fries

  • 1 pound frozen French fries
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Vegetables

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small red bell pepper, thinly sliced

Beef Mixture

  • 1/2 pound thinly sliced beef steak or shaved ribeye
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup cheese sauce (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Cook the fries: Prepare the frozen French fries according to package directions by baking them until they are crispy and golden brown. This typically takes about 20-25 minutes depending on the oven and fries.
  2. Sauté vegetables: While the fries are baking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Sauté for 5 to 6 minutes until the vegetables soften and begin to caramelize slightly, developing a sweet, tender texture.
  3. Cook the beef: Add the thinly sliced beef steak or shaved ribeye to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 4 to 5 minutes until the beef is fully browned and cooked through.
  4. Assemble loaded fries: Once the fries are cooked, transfer them to an oven-safe dish or baking sheet. Evenly layer the cooked beef and pepper mixture over the fries. Then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  5. Melt the cheese: Return the assembled fries to the oven for 5 to 7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and, if desired, drizzle with cheese sauce. Serve immediately to enjoy warm and gooey loaded fries.

Notes

  • Add sautéed mushrooms or a dash of hot sauce for extra flavor and heat.
  • For a different protein, swap the beef for grilled chicken or a plant-based alternative to suit dietary preferences.
  • This dish works well as a fun party appetizer or a casual dinner option.
