Description

These Magic Cookie Bars are a deliciously rich and easy-to-make dessert featuring layers of graham cracker crust, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, and chopped nuts. Baked to a golden perfection, they make the perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

Filling and Toppings

  • 1 (14 oz) can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (325°F if using a glass dish) to ensure even baking.
  2. Prepare Crust: Pour the melted butter into a 13×9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs evenly over the butter and press down lightly to form an even crust layer.
  3. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the entire can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust, creating a moist base for the layers to adhere.
  4. Layer Ingredients: Evenly layer the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, and chopped nuts on top of the sweetened condensed milk. Gently press down with a fork or spatula to ensure the layers stick together.
  5. Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and bubbling.
  6. Cool and Cut: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan to set properly before cutting into 24 bars.

Notes

  • Swap the butterscotch chips for peanut butter chips or white chocolate chips for a delicious variation.
  • For a nut-free version, omit the nuts or replace them with sunflower seeds.
  • Pressing layers gently helps keep bars intact when cutting.
