Description

Longhorn Steakhouse Parmesan Chicken is a delicious family favorite featuring tender chicken breasts topped with a savory blend of ranch dressing, garlic and onion powders, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and a crispy garlic crouton crust. Baked to golden perfection, this dish is perfect for a comforting main course that pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.

Ingredients

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup crushed garlic croutons or seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Season the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts evenly with salt and black pepper on both sides to enhance flavor.
  3. Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sear the chicken breasts for 2–3 minutes on each side until lightly golden, being careful not to cook them through.
  4. Mix Ranch Topping: In a small bowl, combine ranch dressing, garlic powder, and onion powder to create a flavorful sauce for the chicken.
  5. Assemble the Chicken: Spread a generous spoonful of the ranch mixture over each seared chicken breast to coat them evenly.
  6. Add Cheese: Combine mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses and sprinkle the mixture evenly over the ranch-coated chicken breasts.
  7. Apply Crust: Press the crushed garlic croutons or seasoned breadcrumbs firmly on top of the cheese layer to form a crispy crust.
  8. Bake: Transfer the assembled chicken breasts to the greased baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the topping is golden and bubbly.
  9. Optional Broil: For a crispier topping, broil the chicken for 2–3 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the chicken before serving to add freshness and color. Serve hot alongside mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables if desired.

Notes

  • For a crispier topping, broil the chicken for 2–3 minutes after baking.
  • This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Use seasoned breadcrumbs if garlic croutons are not available for similar flavor.
  • Make sure not to overcook the chicken during searing to keep it juicy.
