Ingredients
Egg Mixture:
- 4 large eggs (separated)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup plain whole milk yogurt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar (optional)
Additional:
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Line the bottom of an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- Mix Egg Yolk Batter: In a bowl, combine egg yolks, 1/4 cup sugar, yogurt, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Sift in flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt into the yolk mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Whip Egg Whites: In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar and gradually add remaining sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Fold Egg Whites: Gently fold egg whites into the yolk mixture in three additions.
- Bake: Pour batter into the pan and bake for 40–45 minutes until golden. Cool in the oven slightly before removing to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
