Description
This Lemon Chicken Skillet recipe features tender, juicy chicken breasts cooked in a flavorful lemon garlic sauce, finished with fresh herbs for a bright and satisfying meal that’s easy to prepare in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper to taste
Sauce
- 1 lemon (juice and zest)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley or thyme (chopped)
Instructions
- Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper to enhance flavor before cooking.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the chicken broth and stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest. Use a spoon to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet to build flavor.
- Simmer the Chicken: Return the chicken breasts to the skillet. Spoon some of the sauce over the chicken, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes so the chicken absorbs the tangy lemon flavors.
- Garnish and Serve: Just before serving, sprinkle the freshly chopped parsley or thyme over the chicken for a burst of color and an herbal lift that brightens the dish.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken breasts in lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil for 30 minutes before cooking.

- This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.
- Make sure not to overcook the chicken to keep it tender and juicy.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
