Description

This Lasagna Burger creatively combines the rich flavors of classic Italian lasagna with a juicy, cheesy burger. Featuring seasoned ground beef patties topped with mozzarella, a lasagna noodle layer spread with ricotta and marinara sauce, crispy bacon, and Parmesan cheese, all sandwiched in buttery toasted brioche buns, this recipe delivers a hearty and indulgent meal perfect for a satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Burger Patties

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • 4 brioche burger buns

Lasagna Layer

  • 4 lasagna noodles, cooked and cut to bun size
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for spreading on buns)
  • 4 slices crispy bacon
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare patties: Form the ground beef into 4 evenly sized patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to infuse classic Italian herbs into the meat.
  2. Cook patties: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty to melt.
  3. Prepare noodles: Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions until al dente. Once cooked and drained, cut each noodle to match the diameter of your burger buns.
  4. Assemble lasagna layer: Place one lasagna noodle piece on top of each cooked burger patty. Evenly spread ricotta cheese over the noodles, then layer with marinara sauce, crispy bacon slices, and sprinkle shredded Parmesan cheese on top for added flavor and texture.
  5. Toast buns: Butter the brioche buns lightly on the inside. Place them buttered side down in the skillet and toast over medium heat until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  6. Assemble burgers: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the lasagna-topped burger patty on top, then cover with the top bun to complete your Lasagna Burger.

Notes

  • Ensure the lasagna noodles are cut to the size of your buns to prevent overhang and make the burger easier to eat.
  • You can substitute the bacon with turkey bacon or omit it for a lighter version.
  • Use freshly shredded Parmesan for better melting and flavor compared to pre-grated cheese.
  • If you prefer, the ricotta can be mixed with herbs like basil or parsley for added freshness.
  • Cook patties to an internal temperature of 160°F for safe consumption of ground beef.
