Ingredients
For the Shrimp Mixture:
- 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
- ½ pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 egg white
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon white pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
- White sesame seeds (for topping)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp Mixture: In a food processor, pulse the shrimp until it becomes a rough paste. Add the egg white, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, white pepper, cornstarch, and mayonnaise if using. Blend until smooth and sticky.
- Assemble the Toasts: Spread the shrimp mixture on one side of each bread slice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and press gently into the paste.
- Fry the Toasts: Heat oil in a skillet. Fry the toasts shrimp-side down for 2–3 minutes until golden, then flip and fry the bread side for 1–2 minutes.
- Serve: Cut the toasts into halves or quarters and enjoy hot.
