Ingredients
For the Rolls:
- 1 package (12-count) King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Slice the rolls: Slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls horizontally as a whole slab without separating them. Place the bottom half into the prepared baking dish.
- Make the cinnamon spread: Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl to create a spreadable paste. Spread this mixture evenly over the cut side of the bottom slab of rolls.
- Assemble and bake: Place the top half of the rolls back on and cover the dish with foil. Bake for 20 minutes until the rolls are warm and gooey.
- Prepare the cream cheese glaze: Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle and serve: Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle them with the cream cheese glaze. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra indulgence, consider adding chopped pecans or walnuts to the cinnamon-sugar filling.
- You can prepare these rolls ahead of time and refrigerate them overnight before baking in the morning.
