Description

This Jello Creamsicle Pie combines the nostalgic flavors of orange jello and creamy vanilla pudding in a refreshing, no-bake chilled dessert set in a graham cracker crust. Perfect for warm weather or anytime you want a light, fruity treat with a creamy twist.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 pre-made graham cracker crust (9-inch)

Jello Layer

  • 1 (3 oz) package orange jello
  • 1 cup boiling water

Pudding Layer

  • 2 cups cold whole milk
  • 1 (3.4 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix

Topping

  • 2 cups Cool Whip, thawed
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: If using a homemade graham cracker crust, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the crust for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden brown. Let it cool completely before assembling the pie. Skip this step if using a pre-made crust.
  2. Dissolve the jello: In a mixing bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water over the orange jello powder. Stir continuously until the jello is fully dissolved. Allow this to cool slightly but not set.
  3. Make the pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix with 2 cups of cold whole milk. Whisk for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens to a smooth consistency.
  4. Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold half of the thawed Cool Whip into the thickened pudding mixture to create a creamy filling layer.
  5. Assemble the pie: Pour half of the cooled jello mixture into the graham cracker crust and spread it evenly. Carefully layer the pudding mixture over the jello layer. Finally, top with the remaining jello layer, gently smoothing it out.
  6. Chill to set: Cover the pie and refrigerate for at least four hours or overnight to allow all layers to set properly and flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the pudding or jello layers to intensify the color.
  • The pie must be chilled for at least 4 hours to ensure the jello sets completely for clean slices.
  • Use whole milk for the best creamy texture in the pudding layer.
  • Cool Whip can be replaced with homemade whipped cream if preferred.
  • For a lighter version, you can use reduced-fat milk and fat-free pudding mix.
