Bread
- 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread, halved lengthwise
Cheese Mixture
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Toppings
- 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 2–3 fresh jalapeños, seeded and sliced thin
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the bread halves cut-side up.
- Mix Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well blended.
- Add Bacon and Jalapeños: Fold in the crumbled cooked bacon and half of the thinly sliced jalapeños into the cheese mixture evenly.
- Spread Mixture on Bread: Evenly spread the cheese and jalapeño mixture over both halves of the bread placed on the baking sheet.
- Add Toppings: Top the bread with the remaining jalapeño slices and chopped green onions if using.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Broil Topping: Switch the oven to broil and cook for an additional 1–2 minutes to achieve a golden, slightly crispy top.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired, let cool slightly, then slice and serve.
Notes
- For extra heat, leave the seeds in the jalapeños or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cheese mixture.
- You can prepare the bread ahead of time and refrigerate it before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the bake time.
