Ingredients
Spread Ingredients
- 5 slices bacon
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded white cheddar
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack
- 2 jalapeños, minced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Assembly
- 3 bagels, halved
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack (remaining half for topping)
- 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat and cook bacon: Preheat your oven to 350ºF. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until they are crispy. Remove from the skillet and chop the bacon into small pieces once cooled.
- Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded white cheddar, 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack, minced jalapeños, garlic powder, chopped bacon, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well blended.
- Assemble the bagels: Spread the cream cheese and cheese mixture evenly across the cut sides of the bagel halves.
- Top and bake: Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese over the prepared bagels. Place the bagel halves on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the baked bagels from the oven and garnish with thinly sliced jalapeño rings for an extra pop of spice and color. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust the number of jalapeños based on your preferred heat level.
- Bacon can be substituted with turkey bacon for a leaner option.
- Use freshly grated cheese for better melting and flavor.
- Ensure cream cheese is softened to make mixing easier.
- For crispier bagels, lightly toast them before spreading the mixture.
