Description

These Irresistible Tiramisu Truffles combine the classic flavors of tiramisu into bite-sized treats. Featuring a creamy mascarpone and coffee-infused filling coated in semi-sweet chocolate and dusted with cocoa powder, these truffles are a perfect no-bake dessert ideal for entertaining or a special indulgence.

Ingredients

Tiramisu Filling

  • 1 ½ cups mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 2 tbsp strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs (or ladyfinger crumbs)

Coating

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate, melted (for dipping)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tiramisu Filling: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, coffee liqueur if using, and cooled brewed coffee until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the Crumbs: Gently stir in the graham cracker crumbs or ladyfinger crumbs until the mixture becomes thick and holds together, making it easy to shape.
  3. Form the Truffles: Using your hands or a spoon, scoop small portions of the mixture and roll them into approximately 1-inch diameter balls. Place the formed truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  4. Chill the Truffles: Transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill the truffles for at least 1 hour, allowing them to firm up and set properly.
  5. Dip in Chocolate: Once chilled, melt the semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in short bursts or over a double boiler until smooth and glossy.
  6. Coat the Truffles: Dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is evenly coated, then return it to the parchment-lined baking sheet to set the chocolate layer.
  7. Coat with Cocoa Powder: After the chocolate coating has slightly hardened, sift cocoa powder over the truffles to achieve the classic tiramisu look and intensify the cocoa flavor. Alternatively, roll the truffles immediately after dipping for a richer cocoa taste.
  8. Serve: Once the chocolate has fully set, serve the truffles chilled. Store leftover truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • If coffee liqueur is not preferred, you can omit it or substitute with additional brewed coffee.
  • Ladyfinger crumbs can be used instead of graham cracker crumbs for more traditional tiramisu flavor.
  • Ensure the mascarpone cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • For a dairy-free variation, substitute mascarpone and heavy cream with suitable plant-based alternatives, though texture may vary.
  • These truffles are best enjoyed within a week and should be kept refrigerated.
