Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
Glaze
- Powdered sugar (quantity as needed for glaze)
- Cocoa powder (quantity as needed for glaze)
- Milk (quantity as needed for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat together the milk, vegetable oil, and eggs until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Blend Ingredients: Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing until just incorporated. Avoid overmixing to keep the donuts tender.
- Fill Donut Pan: Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.
- Bake Donuts: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a donut comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly.
- Cool and Transfer: Carefully remove the donuts from the pan and place them on a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
- Prepare Glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and milk in small amounts until you reach your desired smooth, drizzleable consistency.
- Glaze Donuts: Drizzle the cocoa glaze over the cooled donuts evenly. Allow glaze to set before serving for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to ensure the donuts remain light and tender.
- Use a wire rack for cooling to prevent sogginess by allowing air circulation.
- Adjust milk quantity in the glaze gradually to achieve the perfect consistency—too thin will drip off too quickly, too thick will be hard to drizzle.
- These donuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- If you don’t have a donut pan, you can use muffin tins but the shape will differ.
