Description
Classic Irish Pub Burgers with juicy beef patties, caramelized onions, sharp cheddar, and mustard deliver hearty pub-style flavor right at home.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
- 4 brioche or potato buns
- 4 slices Irish cheddar cheese
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter (divided)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp Dijon or spicy brown mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional fixings: crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato slices, fried egg
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter with olive oil over medium-low heat. Add onions, a pinch of salt, and cook for 20–25 minutes until golden and caramelized.
- Meanwhile, divide ground beef into 4 patties. Press a shallow indent in the center of each. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side, adding cheese in the final minute to melt.
- Spread remaining butter on buns and toast them until golden.
- Assemble burgers: spread mustard on bottom bun, add patty, caramelized onions, and any desired toppings. Cap with top bun and serve.
Notes
- For best flavor, use freshly shredded Irish cheddar.
- Make caramelized onions ahead—they keep well for 3–4 days in the fridge.
- Freeze cooked patties for up to 2 months; thaw and reheat for quick meals.
- Serve with fries, chips, or slaw for a classic pub-style meal.
