Ingredients

Green Layer

  • 1 (3 oz) box lime gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ cup apple juice or white grape juice

White Layer

  • 2 packets unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

Orange Layer

  • 1 (3 oz) box orange gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ cup apple juice or white grape juice

Topping

  • Whipped cream or Cool Whip
  • Green and orange sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the green gelatin layer: Dissolve the lime gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved.
  2. Add liquids to green gelatin: Stir in ½ cup cold water and ½ cup apple or white grape juice, mixing well.
  3. Pour green layer into shot glasses: Fill each 2-ounce shot glass about one-third full with the green gelatin mixture.
  4. Refrigerate until set: Chill the green layer for 20-30 minutes until firm.
  5. Bloom gelatin for white layer: Sprinkle 2 packets of unflavored gelatin over 1 cup cold water in a small saucepan; let sit for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Dissolve gelatin on stove: Heat over low heat, stirring until completely dissolved.
  7. Add sweetened condensed milk: Remove gelatin from heat and stir in the can of sweetened condensed milk; allow mixture to cool to room temperature.
  8. Pour white layer over green: Once the green gelatin is set, carefully pour the white mixture on top, filling each glass another one-third full.
  9. Refrigerate again: Chill for 20-30 minutes until the white layer is firm.
  10. Prepare orange gelatin layer: Dissolve the orange gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved.
  11. Add liquids to orange gelatin: Stir in ½ cup cold water and ½ cup apple or white grape juice, mixing well.
  12. Cool orange gelatin: Let the orange gelatin mixture come to room temperature before layering.
  13. Pour orange layer over white: Fill each shot glass to the top with the cooled orange gelatin mixture.
  14. Final chilling: Refrigerate the layered shots for an additional 20-30 minutes until fully set.
  15. Add toppings: Just before serving, top each shot with whipped cream or Cool Whip and sprinkle with green and orange sprinkles.
  16. Serve and enjoy: Serve the Irish Jello Shots chilled for a festive and delicious treat.

Notes

  • Use clear apple juice or white grape juice to keep the gelatin layers vibrant and translucent.
  • Ensure each gelatin layer is fully set before adding the next to maintain distinct layers.
  • Allow the sweetened condensed milk mixture to cool thoroughly before pouring to prevent melting the previous layer.
  • For a boozy version, substitute some of the juice with Irish whiskey but reduce the liquid content proportionally.
  • Chill shot glasses beforehand for extra crisp layers and quicker setting time.
