Description

Delightfully rich and indulgent Irish Cream Brownies combine a classic boxed brownie mix with the smooth, creamy flavor of Irish Cream liqueur. Topped with a luscious Irish Cream frosting, these brownies offer a perfect balance of chocolate and creamy sweetness, ideal for festive occasions or a decadent treat.

Ingredients

Brownies

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus eggs and oil called for on box)
  • Irish Cream liqueur (substitute for water as per box instructions)

Irish Cream Frosting

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Irish Cream liqueur
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare Brownies: Preheat your oven and prepare a 9×9 inch baking pan by greasing it lightly. Follow the package directions on the brownie mix, but substitute the water with an equal amount of Irish Cream liqueur. Mix the batter as indicated, then pour it into the pan and bake according to the package instructions. Once baked, allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  2. Make Irish Cream Frosting: In a small bowl, beat ½ cup of softened butter until it becomes light and fluffy. Gradually add 2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of Irish Cream liqueur, and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix well, then add 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk slowly until the frosting reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency.
  3. Frost Brownies: Once the brownies have cooled completely, spread the Irish Cream frosting evenly over the top. Slice into 16 squares and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure brownies are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
  • You can adjust the amount of Irish Cream in the frosting to achieve your preferred intensity of flavor.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate to keep them fresh longer.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Irish Cream liqueur with Irish Cream-flavored syrup or extract.
  • Use full-fat butter for the best frosting texture and flavor.
