Description

Enjoy the vibrant flavors of fresh strawberries in this easy-to-make homemade strawberry sauce. Perfect for topping pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or yogurt, this versatile sauce will add a burst of fruity sweetness to your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Fresh Strawberry Sauce:

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Strawberries: In a medium saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juices and begin to break down, about 8–10 minutes.
  2. Thicken the Sauce: For a thicker sauce, stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue to simmer for another 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Purée the Sauce: For a smoother consistency, use an immersion blender or regular blender to purée the sauce to your desired texture. Let the sauce cool completely before using.

Notes

  • This sauce can be served warm or chilled and is perfect over pancakes, waffles, cheesecake, ice cream, or yogurt.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
