Ingredients
Fresh Strawberry Sauce:
- 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and halved
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Cook the Strawberries: In a medium saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juices and begin to break down, about 8–10 minutes.
- Thicken the Sauce: For a thicker sauce, stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue to simmer for another 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Purée the Sauce: For a smoother consistency, use an immersion blender or regular blender to purée the sauce to your desired texture. Let the sauce cool completely before using.
Notes
- This sauce can be served warm or chilled and is perfect over pancakes, waffles, cheesecake, ice cream, or yogurt.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
