Description

These Homemade Reese’s Valentine’s Hearts are a delicious, easy-to-make treat combining creamy peanut butter and semi-sweet chocolate in festive heart-shaped molds. Perfect for Valentine’s Day gifting or snacking, they mimic the classic Reese’s peanut butter cups with a romantic twist.

Ingredients

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

Peanut Butter Filling

  • 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
  2. Prepare Molds: Lightly grease silicone heart-shaped molds to ensure easy removal of the chocolates later.
  3. Create Chocolate Shells: Pour the melted chocolate into each heart mold, spreading it evenly to form a thin shell. Place the molds in the freezer for about 10 minutes until the chocolate has firmed up.
  4. Make Peanut Butter Filling: In a separate bowl, thoroughly mix the creamy peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined.
  5. Fill Chocolate Shells: Spoon the peanut butter mixture into each hardened chocolate shell, filling them evenly but leaving room to cover with more chocolate.
  6. Seal and Set: Pour the remaining melted chocolate over the peanut butter filling in each mold, making sure to cover completely. Return the molds to the freezer for another 10 to 15 minutes until fully set.

Notes

  • Use creamy peanut butter for a smooth filling; chunky peanut butter will alter texture.
  • If silicone molds are unavailable, mini muffin tins lined with paper cups can be used.
  • Ensure chocolate does not overheat when melting to avoid burning or seizing.
  • Store finished hearts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a dairy-free version, ensure chocolate chips and peanut butter are vegan-friendly.
