Description

These Homemade Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks are a perfect appetizer or snack featuring a golden crust topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, infused with garlic butter and a hint of fresh parsley. Easy to make using store-bought or homemade pizza dough, they bake quickly to deliver a warm, cheesy delight served with marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

For the Topping

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For Serving

  • Marinara sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Shape the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle or oval shape about ½ inch thick. Transfer the shaped dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Make Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and garlic powder. Stir well to blend all flavors.
  4. Brush Dough with Garlic Butter: Evenly brush the garlic butter mixture over the surface of the rolled-out dough, covering the entire area for full flavor.
  5. Add Cheese and Seasonings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the dough. Then, season with ½ teaspoon of salt and optionally sprinkle chopped fresh parsley for freshness and color.
  6. Bake the Breadsticks: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Cool and Slice: Remove the breadsticks from the oven and allow them to cool for a couple of minutes. Then slice into portions for serving.
  8. Serve: Serve your warm cheesy garlic breadsticks alongside marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought pizza dough for convenience or your favorite homemade pizza dough recipe.
  • Add crushed red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning to the garlic butter for extra flavor and a little heat.
  • For a crisper crust, bake the breadsticks directly on a preheated pizza stone instead of a baking sheet.
  • Fresh parsley is optional but adds a nice color contrast and light herbal note.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and taste.
