Description

A quick and flavorful Hoisin Beef Noodles recipe featuring tender beef sirloin stir-fried with fresh vegetables and coated in a savory hoisin sauce. Perfect for a satisfying weeknight meal packed with vibrant colors and Asian-inspired flavors.

Ingredients

Noodles

  • 8 ounces rice noodles or lo mein noodles

Beef and Vegetables

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots, julienned
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Prepare the rice noodles or lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them well and set aside to be added later.
  2. Stir-fry the beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin or flank steak and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside to prevent overcooking.
  3. Cook the vegetables: In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets, sliced red bell pepper, julienned carrots, and minced garlic. Stir-fry these vegetables for about 3 to 4 minutes until they are tender-crisp, preserving their vibrant color and slight crunch.
  4. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and optional red pepper flakes to create a flavorful sauce with a balance of sweetness, saltiness, and a touch of heat.
  5. Combine beef and sauce: Return the cooked beef back to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the prepared sauce and stir well to coat all the ingredients evenly with the savory mixture.
  6. Add the noodles: Add the drained noodles directly into the skillet. Toss everything together carefully but thoroughly to combine the noodles with the beef, vegetables, and sauce. Heat until everything is warmed through and well mixed.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately for a delicious and balanced meal.

Notes

  • You can use either rice noodles or lo mein noodles based on your preference or availability.
  • Thin slicing the beef helps it cook faster and stay tender.
  • If you prefer less spicy, omit the red pepper flakes.
  • For a more intense flavor, marinate the beef briefly in a tablespoon of soy sauce before cooking.
  • To keep vegetables crisp, avoid overcooking during stir-frying.
  • This dish can be customized by adding other vegetables such as snap peas or mushrooms.
