Ingredients

Wet Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil or olive oil, melted

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, eggs, honey, Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, and melted coconut oil until smooth.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Mix batter: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smooth the top, and bake for 45–55 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  6. Cool and slice: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
