A delicious and healthy Chinese-inspired ground beef and cabbage stir fry that is quick and easy to make. This flavorful dish is perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
For the Stir Fry:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- ½ onion, thinly sliced
- 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
- 1 large carrot, julienned or shredded
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional)
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until fully browned, about 5-6 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add garlic, ginger, and onion to the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add Vegetables: Stir in cabbage and carrot, cook for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Make the Sauce: Whisk soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hoisin sauce. Pour over beef and vegetables. Stir well.
- Thicken the Sauce: If desired, stir in cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over rice, cauliflower rice, or noodles.
