- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
- ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced
- sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the Skillet: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sesame oil and coat the skillet.
- Cook Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add Aromatics and Vegetables: Add garlic, ginger, and onion to the skillet. Sauté for 2 minutes. Stir in cabbage and carrots, cook for 4–5 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Season and Finish: Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hoisin sauce. Stir well to coat. Cook for an additional minute. Remove from heat and top with green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve: Serve hot on its own or over rice.
