Description

Gyeran Bap is a simple and comforting Korean dish made with steamed rice, a fried egg, and savory seasonings. It’s quick to make and perfect for a quick meal or snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup cooked white rice (warm)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan over medium heat and add a small amount of oil or butter.
  2. Crack the egg into the pan and fry it to your desired doneness (sunny-side up is traditional).
  3. In a bowl, place the warm cooked rice.
  4. Top the rice with the fried egg.
  5. Drizzle sesame oil and soy sauce over the egg and rice.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, chopped green onion, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
