Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce or salsa
For Assembly
- 4–6 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese blend
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
- Hot sauce or jalapeños (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, approximately 3 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Brown the Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook while breaking it up with a spoon until it is fully browned and no longer pink, about 6–8 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet to avoid greasiness.
- Season and Simmer: Season the browned beef with chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir in the tomato sauce or salsa and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Warm Tortillas: Heat the flour tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat or microwave them briefly until they become soft and pliable, making them easier to roll.
- Assemble the Wraps: Spoon an ample amount of the beef mixture onto each warm tortilla. Top with shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream if desired, and any additional toppings like hot sauce or jalapeños for extra heat.
- Wrap and Serve: Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll tightly from the bottom to form a secure wrap. Slice each wrap in half if preferred and serve warm for the best taste experience.
