Ingredients
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
Other Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, water, sesame oil, and ground ginger. Set aside.
- Cook the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add Broccoli: Stir in broccoli and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Combine: Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir well. Cover and cook for 3-5 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp and sauce thickens.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste and season with salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve: Serve hot over steamed rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
