Description

A vibrant and flavorful grilled chicken recipe marinated in fresh orange juice, honey, and aromatic ginger and garlic. This dish delivers a perfect balance of sweet and savory with a beautiful citrus glaze, ideal for summer grilling and quick weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Garnish (optional)

  • Fresh parsley or green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare Marinade: In a medium bowl, thoroughly whisk together the fresh orange juice, orange zest, honey, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
  2. Marinate Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable bag or shallow dish, pour the marinade over them ensuring even coverage. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably up to 4 hours, to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
  3. Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking and promote good grill marks on the chicken.
  4. Grill Chicken: Remove chicken breasts from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. Discard the remaining marinade. Place chicken on the grill and cook for 6–7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the chicken is nicely charred and cooked through.
  5. Rest and Serve: Remove the grilled chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Slice and garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For enhanced caramelization, reserve a portion of the marinade and boil it separately before brushing it onto the chicken during the last few minutes of grilling.
  • This marinade and method also work well with chicken thighs for a juicier alternative.
