Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (sourdough, Italian, or thick-cut white)
- 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced or torn
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: fresh basil leaves, tomato slices, or chili flakes
Instructions
- Butter or brush the outer sides of each slice of bread with butter or olive oil.
- Layer mozzarella slices evenly on two of the bread slices. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper, and add optional extras like basil or tomato if desired.
- Top with remaining bread slices to form sandwiches, buttered side out.
- Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-low. Add sandwiches, cover lightly, and cook for 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is fully melted.
- Transfer to a cutting board, let cool slightly, then slice and serve immediately.
